Gann Montadales

Gann Montadales was started in the Fall of 2000 when the oppurtunity to purchase montadales was presented to us by White Birch Montadales, Chad Wubbena and Family. Chad was heading off to college so they were going to reduce the flock. Having already been in the sheep industry raising and showing Corriedales six deep in a class at county fairs.  We saw this as an oppurtunity we couldn't pass up to add another breed. The following spring we purchased the rest of the White Birch ewes when they decided to sell out. We would like to thank the Wubbena's for giving us such a great start in the montadale breed. In our first show season we had first place flock at our county fair and won several Champion Montadale honors right off the start. Including a couple overall champions in our first 4-H show with montadales. Since then we have added only a few outside ewes and a variety of Stud Rams other than the original White Birch stock. As well as adding many more county fair champions and now venturing out to a state show or two. As of today we currently have 65 plus brood ewes, so we have a pretty tightly breed group of females. In 2005 after we had gotten our numbers up we decided we had enough good sheep to start sharing with others when we attended our first National Montadale Show and Sale as a consigner. We currently are striving to produce high quality montadales with adequate size, structural soundness, exceptional breed character, and one of our famous big red ear tags.
